It’s a new year and Birchbox is definitely back with a bang! They’ve teamed up with Ohh Deer for this month’s box who are a British stationery brand, I think this is a great collaboration because quirky stationery is so popular at the moment. The box design is a flamingo themed illustration and they’ve included a matching sticker set – these don’t really excite me but I’m sure people will love them for jazzing up their journals and notebooks. There’s a 20% discount code for Ohh Deer which is valid until 31st March 2018 – use code: BIRCHBOX
Here’s what I received in the January Birchbox –
Everyone received a choice between the peach or pink toned shade this month, I received camelia which is the pink shade. This blusher gives a quick pop of colour and is fairly easy to blend. I actually thought this item was a sample size at first so I’m not sure it’s worth the RRP but that’s the only downside for me.
Eyeliner seems to be a very popular product for beauty boxes but what I like about this one is that they’ve given us the shade charcoal rather than the standard black that we typically get. Greys (and browns) are so much more flattering and subtle and it definitely glides on smoothly as stated and is a good sample size.
This isn’t a brand I’m familiar with but this is a lovely night cream which, with its sea chamomile is supposed to leave the skin feeling smooth and plumped. I haven’t used it for long enough yet to notice a real difference but another good sample size so I should get quite a few applications from it.
I think I may have said this on a previous post but I don’t like receiving just a shampoo or conditioner in beauty boxes because they should come as a pair in my eyes. I’ll probably save this for one of those times when I’ve used up my conditioner quicker than my shampoo! The scent is lovely and I’m sure it will leave the hair looking shiny and healthy, as all good conditioners do.
This is a very unusual product – a cloth which claims to remove all makeup with just water! I have given it a whirl and it does remove foundation quite easily although it feels like it’s dragging quite a lot. It will need regular washing because it seems to hold onto the makeup so it soon gets dirty and it’s also quite a small cloth so I think this is a sample size.
Overall this is a good box and definitely gives us the opportunity to try out different brands. They’ve also given us a spoiler for next month’s box which is going to include a silicone makeup applicator from Keeome so I’m looking forward to that as I’ve never tried one before.
