Back to the 90s!
I was so excited when I found out this month’s theme which is ‘Beauty Through the Decades’ and Birchbox allowed us to pick our box design which was either 70s, 80s or 90s themed. All three designs looked fab but I just had to choose the 90s box with its Saved by the Bell vibes!
Here’s what I got in my box this month –
The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio – Full Size – RRP £7
Everyone receives this eyeshadow trio in the February box, it’s called ‘Love You So Latte’ and includes a matte dark brown, a gold shimmer and a brown shimmer and if used together will make a gorgeous subtle smoky eye. A nod to the 90s as this was a big trend back then.
ModelCo Creme Rouge – Full Size – RRP £14
ModelCo was founded in the 90s so a nice inclusion in this box. It’s a cream blush which can also be dabbed on the lips to add a pop of colour. The shade is called ‘Just Peachy’ and although I haven’t had to chance to try it yet, I’m looking forward to giving it a go.
Percy & Reed Finishing Polish – RRP £10
I am quickly learning that Percy & Reed is a popular choice for beauty boxes and I’m not complaining because their products are so good. Another 90s touch by reminding us of the poker straight hair and sleek high ponytails we sported! My hair is a little dry and frazzled at the minute so a tiny bit of this finishing polish smoothes it out but be careful not to use too much because it can make your hair a little crisp.
Sebamed Antibacterial Cleansing Foam – RRP £7.99
It seems Birchbox know me too well this month! My skin has been really bad lately and I keep getting lots of breakouts so I’ve jumped straight into using this product. Its antibacterial action is supposed to help prevent the formation of spots and blackheads and restore the skin’s balance. Fingers crossed this product does what it says. It’s a great sample size at 50ml and seems like it will last a while.
Bumble & Bumble Thickening Spray – RRP £10
This is another of my favourite hair care brands, they have some really good products but this is one I haven’t used before. I gave it a go but I didn’t really notice a difference and found my hair was a little sticky so I think this product is probably best used as stated – for bouncy blow dries because the action of the round brush will distribute the product through the hair. The fragrance (or lack of) was a bit disappointing, it’s doesn’t give you that high end feel but it’s not too bad.
This is a great box and it seems that Birchbox are really upping their game this year because the last two have been the best I’ve had from Birchbox. Having seen the sneak peeks for next month I am certain that March won’t disappoint either!
March Spoilers
If you follow Birchbox on social media you’ll probably have seen that in next month’s box, everyone will receive the brand new Benefit Bad Gal Bang mascara mini in their box. Having already seen some reviews of this I can’t wait to give it a go myself. We also get to choose a BLAQ skincare treat between a peel off mask and a hydrogel eye mask which both sound fab.
