Starting a new month is always a bit of a shock isn’t it, reminding you just how quickly the year is going. I’ve also started seeing the Christmas memes on my Facebook timeline… I wish I was joking!
The best bit about each new month is the subscription box deliveries, which in my case means Birchbox! This month they’ve teamed up with Etsy and chosen 10 of their sellers to produce the box designs which have then been allocated to subscribers randomly. My box was designed by Natalie Lea Owen who sells a variety of brightly coloured cards and gifts. Here’s what I got in this month’s box –
Dirty Little Secret Eye Shadow Crayon – Full Size – RRP £10.50
This is a lovely eye shadow crayon and is a very wearable shade. With it being quite subtle, you need to build it up quite a bit if you’re going to wear it on its own but I think it would also make a great base for powder eyeshadows. I’ve never heard of the brand before so I’m not sure if I’d be willing to spend £10.50 on this product when there are some similar products from high street brands which cost much less.
CLE Cosmetics Melting Lip Powder – RRP £15
Another brand I haven’t heard of… it’s also a product I’ve never heard of. This ‘lipstick’ is a powder that turns into a lip tint as soon as you apply it which is kind of cool. I suppose it’s quite gimmicky because the end result is the same as you would achieve from a regular lip tint but nonetheless, it’s definitely a fun product. Just be careful when opening the packaging because the powder does seem to escape the bottle a bit! The colour is lovely and I think it would be great as a daytime colour if you’re looking for something long-wearing that’s quite subtle.
Dr Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Sleeping Mask – Full Size – RRP £14.90
This face mask smells gorgeous (as you’d expect with it being pomegranate!) and Dr Botanicals is a really popular brand at the minute, I’ve been seeing it all over social media so I’m looking forward to giving this one a try. I haven’t had chance yet because my Birchbox only arrived today but you apply a thin layer to your face after cleansing and leave it on overnight to work its magic. It’s also great that we’re getting some full sized products in our Birchboxes.
Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 Cleanser – RRP £19
Another brand that has been doing the rounds on social media is Philosophy and this cleanser doesn’t disappoint. It removes makeup (I haven’t tried it with eye makeup), cleanses, tones and ‘lightly’ moisturises. I like the fragrance which is fairly strong but doesn’t linger afterwards which I think is a good thing with face products.
Rituals Happy Buddha Foaming Shower Gel – RRP £8.50
I think this is the second time I’ve received a Rituals foaming shower gel in my Birchbox, I sometimes find repeats annoying… not this time though! I love anything by Rituals so if Birchbox decided to keep going with these every month, I’d be quite happy ha ha! Last time I got the Ayurveda scent (red tin) and this is the Happy Buddha scent which is a mixture of citrus and cedar. If I had to pick a favourite it would probably be the red one but they’re both amazing. The sample size is also really good, I remember getting quite a few uses out of it last time.
I’d say Birchbox have done it again this month! 2018 has been a great year for this subscription box and it seems like they are really listening to their subscribers, sample sizes are getting better and there are more full sized items popping up.
