Birchbox September 2018 Unboxing/Review

So we’ve reached September and Summer is well and truly over. I can’t quite believe how quickly this year has gone but at least we can now start the countdowns for Halloween and Christmas woohoo!

This month’s Birchbox doesn’t have an Autumnal theme but is based around embracing a fresh start and making changes. Here’s what I got in this month’s box –

Benefit Box O’ Powder in Gold Rush (RRP £25.50)

Everyone receives a sample sized blush from Benefit and had a choice of two shades, I picked Gold Rush. They both looked great but I figured that I already have a lot of pink toned blushes so thought it made more sense to add a golden shade to my collection. I always like receiving Benefit products from Birchbox because it’s such a well known brand, the only downside is that the sample sizes can be very small sometimes. The product itself is great, it does exactly what it says and it also has a gorgeous scent!

Eyeko Brow Liner (RRP £15)

This is the second time I’ve received an Eyeko product in my box and this month it’s a liquid brow liner. I’ve never seen a brow product like this before and I’m looking forward to trying it. It looks like it would be great for subtly filling in brows for a natural look. I doubt it would work well for creating a strong brow because it would probably look very fake and drawn on – it dries quickly and is water-resistant.

Benefit Eyeko

Marcelle Anti-Pollution Day & Night Moisturiser (RRP 23)

This is a hypo-allergenic, fragrance free moisturiser which can be applied morning and night. It is also recommended as a makeup base. The sample size is quite small at 7ml but should last long enough to put it to the test. I’m looking forward to trying this one because my skin has been prone to blemishes lately so it would probably be worthwhile switching to a hypoallergenic product.

Caudalie Clear Skin Purifying Toner (RRP £18)

This is my favourite product this month, Caudalie is such a great brand and the sample size is pretty good. As mentioned, I’ve been getting a lot of blemishes lately and this toner includes salicylic acid to unclog and cleanse pores. It shouldn’t dry the skin out and leaves it feeling refreshed. It has a lovely scent (grapefruit I think) and is comprised of a blend of essential oils.

Beauty Protector Volume Spray (£21.50)

This is a popular brand with Birchbox, I’ve previously received a heat protector which was brilliant so I’m also looking forward to testing out this volume spray. Another product with a great scent and the sample size is good.

Overall, September’s box is pretty good because it has a nice mixture of product types and also gives us the opportunity to try something different. The stand out products for me are the Benefit blusher and Caudalie toner. The only improvement Birchbox could make is to ensure they always include some full sized products to give us the best value for money.
